The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Security Manager based at our Southampton site. The Site Security Manager will lead the day-to-day direction, control, and planning of Physical, Personnel, and Information Security delivery.
You will be responsible for the protection of:
- Company employees
- Assets
- Infrastructure
- Capability
...in alignment with both internal and external compliance requirements.
Reporting to the Security Operations Manager, you will leverage your security expertise to operate at all levels of the business, ensuring the delivery of functional and business requirements.
The role is site-based in Southampton, with occasional travel required to other Leonardo UK sites. Additionally, you will need to be eligible for DV clearances.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Business Security operations, ensuring day-to-day delivery of current and future business objectives.
- Ensure adherence to policy, process, and procedures to meet operational goals.
- Implement and maintain security policies in a consistent manner.
- Oversee security visits and inspections conducted by Government and Contracting Authority.
- Manage, monitor, and report on all security technology, ensuring operational effectiveness.
- Identify, document, mitigate, and monitor physical and personnel security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Contribute to business planning, embedding security as an integral part of operations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external security stakeholders.
- Act as a Security ambassador to foster a security-minded culture across the organisation.
- Lead and mentor security teams to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of Leonardo security requirements.
- Manage third-party suppliers to ensure cost-effective service delivery.
- Hold Crypto Custodian responsibilities, including assurance reviews and audits.
- Conduct security investigations and respond to critical incidents.
- Provide comprehensive security advice and guidance.

Critical Requirements
You must meet the following criteria to succeed in this role:
- Experience in Operational Security Management, ideally within the Defence industry.
- Strong leadership skills, with a track record of leading and motivating teams.
- Experience implementing policy and guidance, ensuring compliance and best practice.
- Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders (customers, partners, suppliers, and internal teams).
- Experience as a Crypto Custodian or alternate role in security operations.
- Clear understanding of NPSA operational requirements and approved equipment catalogues.
- Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to present at senior levels.
Security Clearance Requirements
This role mandates the following:
- Sole UK National Security Clearance – DV level clearance must be achieved, maintained, and eligible.
- Background checks include:
- Identity verification
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Unspent criminal record verification
- Up-to-five-years employment/history verification
