Practicalities

About The Role

Before Verda can build or deploy, someone has to find the right location. Site selection is one of the highest-leverage functions in a growing infrastructure company — a good decision here shapes everything that comes after: construction cost, power availability, latency, regulatory compliance, and long-term scalability.

We're looking for a Site Selection Manager for EMEA who specialises in powered land and power shell opportunities. Your primary focus is identifying, evaluating, and securing sites with the right power infrastructure already in place or within reach — the kind of assets that let Verda move fast rather than wait years for grid connections.

Nordics are the current top priorities. You'll build and own the broader EMEA pipeline alongside them. This is not a strategic advisory role — you'll be on-site regularly, running your own evaluations, managing broker relationships directly, and driving deals to close yourself.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What you'll do

Identify and evaluate powered land plots and power shell opportunities across EMEA, with immediate focus on Nordics. Assess sites directly and in person: available power capacity, grid connection status and timeline, substation proximity, cooling feasibility, fiber connectivity, land size and density potential, and planning or permitting risk. Build and maintain a live pipeline of pre-qualified opportunities across EMEA markets — categorised by readiness, power availability, and strategic fit — so Verda is never reacting to capacity needs at the last minute. Lead the shortlisting and commercial evaluation process: scoring sites against Verda's technical and financial criteria, producing clear recommendation reports for leadership decisions. Manage the pre-acquisition process from shortlist to signed — coordinating with Legal, Construction, Finance, and external advisors to keep deals moving. Develop and own relationships with landowners, developers, utility providers, grid operators, real estate brokers, and local planning authorities in active markets. Stay ahead of the EMEA powered land market: track new availability, grid capacity releases, planning approvals, and competitor activity so Verda sees opportunities early.

What we're looking for

Required

7+ years in data center site selection, critical infrastructure real estate, or power infrastructure development — with hands-on EMEA market experience and a track record of deals closed, not just evaluated. Specific experience sourcing and transacting powered land or power shell assets — you understand what makes a site viable beyond the headline power figure: grid connection agreements, DNO/TSO timelines, substation capacity, and planning constraints. Deep familiarity with the Nordic & UK market: grid connection processes, DNO relationships, planning framework for data center and industrial use, and the current competitive landscape for powered land. Comfortable working independently and getting into the detail yourself — you visit sites, run your own analysis, manage your own broker relationships, and drive your own deals. You don't wait for someone else to do the groundwork. Strong commercial and analytical judgment: you evaluate sites on data, model the trade-offs clearly, and make a recommendation rather than presenting options without a view. Willingness to travel frequently across EMEA — expect to be on-site or in market 2–3 weeks per month during active searches.

Strong plus

Direct experience in the Nordic market — understanding of municipal planning processes, Nordic grid operators, and the regulatory environment for large power consumers. Existing relationships with major Nordic and European landowners, developers, grid advisors, and real estate brokers active in the powered land space. Familiarity with renewable energy infrastructure: hydropower proximity, PPA availability, carbon intensity considerations, and how sustainability credentials affect site viability in Nordic and Western European markets. Experience evaluating sites for high-density GPU or HPC workloads specifically — understanding of 140kW+ per rack power requirements and what that means for site infrastructure beyond headline MW capacity. Background in Nordic markets — Sweden, Finland, Norway — where power cost, cooling opportunity, and renewable credentials are structurally different from Western European markets.
