We are seeking a skilled Site Services Engineer to join our team at Manchester Airport, supporting the operation, maintenance, and performance of critical airport security screening systems. The Role Reporting to the MAG Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced security screening equipment, including X-ray and CT systems, at one of our key customer sites. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced operational environment. Key Responsibilities Technical Support & Maintenance Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on security screening systems to maximize equipment availability and reliability. Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex X-ray and CT-based security systems. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, electrical, mechanical, and system interface issues. Support system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities. Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company procedures, safety requirements, and customer expectations. Customer Support Provide technical support directly to airport operational teams and stakeholders. Respond to customer enquiries, service requests, and technical issues, ensuring timely resolution. Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional and effective communication. Advise customers on equipment capabilities, operational best practices, and approved system modifications. Training & Documentation Deliver formal and informal operator and maintenance training to customer personnel. Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports, and administrative documentation using Salesforce or equivalent service management systems. Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales. Team & Operational Support Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers when required. Support other UK customer sites and engineering teams as business needs dictate. Participate in shift patterns, out-of-hours support, and on-call rotas as required. About You Essential Experience & Qualifications Technical qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent military/industry training. Proven experience within a field service or site-based engineering environment. Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across electrical, electronic, mechanical, and software-based systems. Experience working with complex technical equipment in a customer-facing environment. Full UK driving licence. Desirable Experience Security screening, security detection, or baggage handling systems. X-ray and CT technologies. Aviation or airport operations. Experience working within a global or multi-site organisation. Linux operating systems and networking knowledge. Technical Skills Ideally, you will have experience with some or all of the following: Digital and analogue electronic systems. Electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis. High-voltage equipment. X-ray generating systems. Test equipment including digital multimeters (DVMs) and oscilloscopes. Preventative and corrective maintenance methodologies. CRM or service management systems such as Salesforce. Physical & Operational Requirements This role operates within a live airport environment and requires: The ability to lift and manually handle tools, test equipment, spare parts, and system components up to 16kg unaided. Frequent walking across large airport facilities, including terminals and secure operational areas. Extended periods of standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and performing detailed technical work. Working in restricted access areas, equipment rooms, service pits, raised platforms, and other operational environments. The ability to work independently and safely during out-of-hours maintenance activities. Travel & Flexibility Based at Manchester Airport with occasional travel to other UK customer sites. Ability to travel throughout the UK on short notice when required. Willingness to work non-standard hours, weekends, public holidays, and participate in on-call rotas. Occasional overnight stays may be required. Travel requirement: up to 20%. Future shift pattern potential with a shift allowance. Eligibility Requirements To be considered for this role, you must: Be eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom. Be able to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and relevant airside passes. Provide a minimum of five years of checkable employment history.
