Permanent Site Supervisor – Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project

Base Location This is a site-based role, requiring 5 working days per week on site in Skye.

Salary & Benefits £43,704 - £51,484 + a comprehensive package including:

The Role

SSEN Transmission is seeking an engaging, collaborative Site Supervisor to contribute to the construction and commissioning of the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project.

You will:

  • Represent SSEN professionally across all project phases, ensuring supplier compliance with safe, responsible, and regulatory work in line with contracts and company policies.
  • Foster a positive safety culture, modelling SSEN’s Safety Management Systems while encouraging open communication and empowerment.
  • Oversee completed works for payment validation and manage compensation events impartially.
  • Provide direct input during early project stages, ideally engaging before Gate 3 of the LCP process.
  • Maintain on-site presence 5 days a week as a steward for smooth project delivery, collaborating with teams, contractors, and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and nurture trusted working relationships across site teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Uphold safety integrity, preventing risks, and ensuring regulatory adherence to CDM and utility codes.
  • Support consistent project progress, assessing quality, harmonising expectations, and resolving issues.
  • Contribute technical context for project compliance, cost management, and contractual alignment.
  • Champion SSE’s commitment to competition, quality, and customer reliability.

Requirements

Technical & Operational Knowledge

  • Proficient in engineering and construction fundamentals, site safety, and CDM regulations
  • Prior experience in site supervision for utility or infrastructure projects:
    • Ingenuity in complex environments bonus if above ground (e.g. construction access works)
  • Strong comprehension of project plans, progress tracking, and quality control frameworks
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and openness to learning new IT systems

Soft Skills

  • Clear, collaborative communicator with the ability to interact with diverse teams and external partners
  • Progressive leadership that aligns teams towards common goals
  • Responsible mindset towards finances, compliance, and stakeholder engagement
