# Site Supervisor – UK Power Networks
Designation Project Supervisor
Location Based in Gatwick Airport, working across the UK
Employment Type & Status Permanent employee – with Health and Safety declaration, DBS check
Salary & Benefits

Key Body (Role Reporting Structure) Reports to the Lead Project Manager
Main Job Purpose
As Site Supervisor, you will oversee project delivery—ensuring safety, quality, timelines and cost compliance—while meeting the asset owner’s specifications.
Core Responsibilities
Your role includes:
- Managing end-to-end civil, cable, joint installation, substation commissioning, and reinstatement activities across multiple projects in the Gatwick region.
- Ensuring no disruption to staff, contractors, and affected customers, while maintaining continuity of energy services.
- Implementing cost/chang-error control to align project spend with approved scope.
- Harmonising operational and reactive fire fighting while prioritising network maintenance.
- Liaising with clients to foster strong working relationships and understand priority deliverables.
You must embed UKPN Services Stay Safe directives across all site activities, personalise site procedures (H&S plans, inductions), while supervising a multi-skilled frontline team.

Key Accountabilities
Project & Team Co-Orindation
- Align with Lead Project Manager to deliver on:
- Timeline & budget performance
- Resource allocation adjustments (people/equipment)
- Client & internal standards compliance (CDM, safety policies, Distribution Safety Rules)
- Risk management (Method Statements, COSHH, HSE documentation)
- Enforce toolbox talks, daily Point of Work Assessments, and site induction requirements—ensuring operatives are operational under safe procedures.
Workforce & Operational Efficiency
- Monitor & optimise resource allocation (staff/contractor scheduling, overtime control, detailing work packages).
- Review productivity metrics and incentive schemes to improve unit costs.
- Uphold competency registries and arrange training to address gaps (including IPR/give-to-get reviews).
Technical & Planning Duties
- Interpret utility plans and operational diagrams (1:500 maps).
- Take field-leadership by performing exercises like safely entering high-voltage substations while qualifying for further capability progression.
- Use dedicated IT tools (ex: SAP "Toughpads", LV fault sniffers, FFE kit).
Cultural & Leadership Objectives
- Lead site teams to achieve self-sustaining safety and performance culture.

Nature of Role
- Pre-appointment screening required (per UKPN’s drug/alcohol policy).
- Internal placement within a team of technicians/jointers under oversight of the applicable Lead Operational Engineer.
- Wide-ranging UK projects—primarily on customer-owned sites by subcontract.
- Travel-intensive (sic even unsocial-hours ad-hoc fault response).

Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
✅ Must-haves:
- Static/HV terminators or live-line fitters background (fitted with electrical overhead Cable/Joint operations).
- Chartered or IOSH Managing Health & Safety qualification (acquired within agreed deadline).
- 5+ years related projects supervision (contractors/subs, budget/variance control).
- Full C&G 2339 or similar license AND evidence of experienced tool giver status (IFTF or DEFRA accredited). (Note: ONC qualifications welcome.)
- Current, inclusive driving license, Airside access credentials (via successful assessment).
- Flexibility and adaptability in managing stress by urgency-tiers and new risks.
✔ Desirable traits (Milestones for career-path continuity / tool issue access):
- Substation qualification pruned by HV career aspirations.
- Client-specific competency in tasks like voltage-limiting fusible switch operations.
Health & Safety Focus

- Supervisor certificates (and physical (modified-enabled accessory): eg gas detection per guidelines) weight and mobility affect fall/safety ideal working limits (see: 116kg max-cap).
- Mandatory collaboration with design systems to terse risk assessments tying to ** ops design.**
