Site Supervisor
Site Supervisor – Teesside (Static Site)
Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced and proactive Site Supervisor with a strong fire alarm engineering background to oversee and support the delivery of fire alarm servicing, gas suppression systems, and mechanical suppression systems. This role is ideal for someone who can confidently lead others, demonstrate technical expertise, carry out hands-on maintenance tasks, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and service delivery.
About the Role
As the Site Supervisor, you will lead a team of on-site engineers and subcontractors, ensuring the effective delivery of all fire detection, gas suppression, and mechanical suppression services. This includes:
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Routine servicing
- Fault-finding
- Remedial works
You will work across conventional and addressable fire detection systems, networked and graphical fire alarm systems, gas extinguishing systems (e.g., Argonite, CO₂, Inergen, Novec), mechanical fire suppression equipment, and fire extinguishers.
You will act as the primary on-site point of contact, ensuring smooth operations while maintaining strong client relationships and adhering to site-specific safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Site Management
- Lead, support, and coordinate on-site engineers and subcontractors
- Build strong working relationships with clients to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Act as the main point of escalation for technical or operational issues
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure all work meets required standards
- Support the coaching, development, and onboarding of engineers and apprentices
Technical Delivery (Hands-On)
- Personally carry out maintenance, servicing, fault-finding, and repairs on fire alarm systems
- Support and oversee works on gas suppression and mechanical suppression systems
- Perform integrity testing (training provided if required)
- Assist with estimating, commissioning, and client training
- Identify and communicate remedial works, system deficiencies, and upgrade opportunities
- Ensure accurate completion of all on-site documentation, daily work diaries, and service reports
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct safety and quality audits to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards
- Ensure all engineers follow site-specific safety and high-hazard environment requirements
- Promptly identify and report health and safety concerns, near misses, and site hazards
- Attend mandatory training and maintain up-to-date certifications
- Ensure full adherence to RAMS, PPE requirements, toolbox talks, van audits, and accident investigations
- Promote a zero-harm culture and drive continuous improvement in safety performance

What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong experience working with fire detection and fire alarm systems (primary skillset)
- Experience with gas suppression systems
- Understanding of mechanical fire suppression equipment
- Ability and willingness to carry out hands-on maintenance and servicing
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to inspire, influence, and build strong working relationships
- Proactive approach to solving problems and managing unexpected situations
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to travel for training when required
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
