Site Technician
Site Technician – FM Segment (Tudor Grange Yew Tree Academy)
Location: Solihull, England Contract Type: Permanent Weekly Hours: 37hrs (hours to be confirmed) Salary: £13.50 per hour
About the Role
BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Site Technician to support our Facilities Management (FM) segment, based at Tudor Grange Yew Tree Academy in Solihull. This role offers a multi-skilled opportunity to perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, aligning with company policies and procedures.
Framework & Work Structure
- Core hours: 37hrs/week, 40 weeks per year.
- Working closely with the school as the primary client, ensuring smooth day-to-day operational needs are met.
- UK-wide support services under an enhanced family-friendly policy (see below).
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Respond to and resolve daily requests, enquiries, and maintenance tasks from school staff, contractors, and internal teams.
- Perform proactive and flexible maintenance, including porterage and routine tasks (e.g., space management, room set-ups).
- Achieve high-level customer satisfaction through rapid response and quality execution rates.
- Develop, maintain, and report on routine and planned maintenance programs.
- Manage inventory control by providing clear spares/consumables purchase requests via the helpdesk.
- Ensure safe storage of site materials, tools, and utilities.
- Log and resolve maintenance fault reports in a timely manner.
- Support colleagues through technical assistance and teamwork.
- Lead by example in health & safety compliance, including:
- Conducting risk assessments & method statements.
- Overseeing external contractor safety standards.
- Maintaining BMS (Building Management System), generating monthly reports.
- Cover emergencies out-of-hours for maintenance, including unplanned building access/safeguarding duties.

Additional Expectations
- Adhering to BAM FM’s HR, H&S, Quality, and Environmental standards.
- Regular updates on maintenance records and fault tracking.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Experience & Technical Competencies
- Trade discipline experience (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general maintenance) at a high standard.
- Experience in a facilities management or educational environment (not necessarily compulsory).
- Proven ability to:
- Work individually and collaboratively.
- Use own initiative in problem-solving.
- Handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence and valid proof of DBS check.
- Proficiency in IT and reporting tools.
