About the Role

Working with our diverse and accomplished Sixth Form students is both a privilege and a fulfilling opportunity to make a meaningful difference. Stratford upon Avon School is looking to appoint a motivated and proactive Study Skills Coordinator to join their growing Sixth Form department, currently accommodating 270 students.

The role offers a fast-paced and challenging environment where you’ll support students in Years 12 and 13 as they navigate academia, enrichment, and personal development. The department operates a highly praised Supervised Study model, recognised by Ofsted, where students typically study three A Levels alongside an extensive enrichment programme.

Candidates will thrive in a dynamic faculty, utilising their interpersonal, organisational, and analytical skills to enhance student success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Support of Sixth Form Learning:
    • Oversee and deliver high-quality Supervised Study sessions, fostering an environment of academic focus and accountability.
    • Lead and facilitate study skills sessions, including:
      • Effective revision techniques
      • Essay writing strategies
      • Improvement of independent study habits
    • Develop engaging resource materials to support student progress.

  • Academic Support Framework:

    • Identify and respond to academic performance data, conducting one-to-one interventions where necessary.
    • Proactively track student progression and offer tailored guidance to bolster achievement.
  • Pastoral and Engagement Roles:

    • Collaborate with student liaison teams, ensuring robust guidance on both academic and personal growth.
    • Support the development of enrichment programmes, ensuring alignment with student ambitions.
  • Departmental Development:

    • Contribute to the strategic growth of the Sixth Form provision, consulting on ways to enhance learning outcomes.
    • Promote a supportive and aspirational posture, fostering a strong sense of community among the student body.

Person Specification

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Demonstrates exceptional organisational skills: Able to manage multiple tasks with clarity, adaptability, and precision.
  • Has outstanding interpersonal skills: Confident and comforted when building strong relationships with both students and faculty.
  • Lives and breathes student success: Passionate, determined, and adept at analysing academic data to make impactful improvements.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment: Proactive, resilient, and creative in their approach to resolving challenges.
  • Practical teaching experience preferred: Experience in supporting students in Sixth Form or similar environments is advantageous but not essential.

Benefits

  • Full-time post (Band H, range 18-23)

    • Salary range (pro-rata with 37 hours: 39 weeks/year): £27,321 to £29,831 per annum
    • Hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, excluding school holidays)
    • Additional staff learning days included in the contract
  • Annual salary start: Commensurate with experience and qualifications (overall school range £31,537 to £34,434).


Additional Information
