Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Skilled Fettler.
- Full time temp-to-perm position
- An average of 42 hours per week (24/7 shift pattern, including day & night shifts)
- Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
- Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
The job holder will be responsible for ensuring the post machining operation of benching to the required specification (including de-burring, fettle, buffing, filing, etc.).

Essential Responsibilities
Bench Operations
- Ensure correct benching of components, including removal of sharp edges, cleaning of holes, using an orbital sanders, and hand de-burring to drawing and SOP
- Ensure fettling of components to achieve ‘as drawn’ features
- Part mark or ident product as per specifications/instructions provided
- Provide rework rectification to any parts following machining mismatches to engineering drawings or should parts not meet Inspection standards
Accuracy of Paperwork
- Provide accurate cycle time for all products with operations required
- Cross check the prior operations on job cards ensuring they are completed prior to starting any operations and alert Team Lead if any variances
- Report and complete non-conformance reports for any product that does not meet specification
- Provide accurate information for the next shift if any deviation to production schedule to ensure production targets are achieved

General
- Work with a minimum amount of supervision whilst maintaining expected levels of productivity
- Continually review working practices to remove and reduce waste and non- value added activities
- Actively support and contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
- Positively support team work and circulation of experience within the workforce
Housekeeping & Health + Safety
- Undertake daily checks and maintain air tools/equipment as per work instructions provided – reporting any failures or corrective maintenance requirements whilst maintaining responsibility for secure storage of tools in tool box
- Work in a safe manner in compliance with the Health & Safety policy. Report and log all Health & Safety incidents that occur.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work area
Position Requirements
Qualification, Skills And Experience
- Demonstration of basic numeracy to read measuring equipment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Relevant experience or an industry qualification demonstrating use of power/air tools and bench/fettle processes
- Working experience within manufacturing environment or similar environment
- Competency demonstrated in use of an MRP system like EFACS or similar operating system
- Working knowledge of specifications, SOP’s and Work Instructions

- Hand eye co-ordination for prolonged periods
- High degree of judgement and decision making
- Attention to detail and diligence (right first time)
- Work with minimum supervision following instruction
- Initiative in time management and method
- Significant levels of concentration required
- Good verbal communicator
- Versatility and flexibility to support job requirements
