Skilled groundworker

Location: Based in Birmingham, UK. Site locations vary throughout the UK.

MJS Construction Ltd is seeking an experienced groundworker to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role involves working across the UK on civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

This is a hands-on, practical position that is suited to someone with strong groundwork and civils experience and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship.

Day to day duties:

  • Operating plant and machinery (Excavator, dumper etc.)
  • Preparing for and laying concrete
  • Preparing formwork
  • Operating tools where appropriately trained and authorised

Typical work we do:

  • Rapid set and standard concrete bay replacement
  • Drainage systems
  • Pit and duct systems
  • Grading and surface preparation
  • Concrete formwork

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • A valid CSCS card (essential); CPCS/NPORS plant tickets are desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in groundworks, including excavation, drainage installation, laying and finishing concrete.
  • A strong understanding of construction site health and safety practices and a commitment to working safely at all times.
  • Experience using a range of hand tools, power tools and plant machinery.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Working away from home is an essential requirement of this role, with overnight stays required where project locations demand.
  • A clean DBS check will be required for this role.
