Skilled Operative Groundworker

Skilled Operative – Civil Engineering & Groundworks (Doncaster & Wider Region)

About the Role

At JN Bentley Ltd, we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Skilled Operatives based in and around Doncaster, with opportunities to work across the wider region.

This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals with a strong background in civil engineering and groundworks to join a thriving, established business. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proactive approach to work, health & safety, with experience in the water industry and expertise in general civil works, including:

  • Concreting
  • Deep drainage
  • Pipe laying

Reporting to the Lead Hand and Site Management, you will contribute to a site team, delivering groundworks and civil engineering activities primarily within the water sector.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Safely and efficiently executing day-to-day site tasks.
  • Ensuring high standards of quality, productivity, and health & safety.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects to programme and schedule.

Candidate Specification

Applicants must possess:

  • Proven experience as a Skilled Operative in civil engineering or groundworks, with hands-on experience in:
    • Concrete pours
    • Deep drainage
    • Pipe laying
  • Strong emphasis on health & safety, including:
    • Active reporting culture
  • Valid credentials, such as:
    • CSCS / CPCS or NOCN / NPORS
    • NVQ qualification (relevant level)
    • Relevant plant tickets
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a site team

Advantageous experience includes:

  • National Water Hygiene Card
  • Thames Water Passport
  • Slinger / Signaller or Crane Lift Supervisor certification
  • Confined Spaces (City & Guilds) qualification
  • Additional plant tickets
  • 3-Day First Aid Certificate
