About The Role
Skilled Operative – Balvac (UK-Wide)
Balfour Beatty’s Balfvac team is seeking a Skilled Operative to join its growing projects across the UK.
For over 85 years, Balvac has been delivering innovative structural repair, strengthening, protection and maintenance solutions, sustainably extending the life of national infrastructure. Our clients span Highways, local authorities, rail, marine, coastal, power, industrial, and commercial sectors.
With an expanding portfolio and major future growth, we are scouting for skilled professionals (Contracts Engineers, Site Agents, Project Managers & Specialist Services Engineers) to reinforce the dynamic team — who cierto record £8.6bn in revenue last year and industry-leading customer & employee engagement scores.
What You’ll Do
As a Skilled Operative, your key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring works are completed efficiently and safely
- 展示 positive attitudes supporting safety protocols and teamwork
- Reporting near misses, hazards, and observations via hotline and to the Supervisor
-Following company/manufacturer procedures to guarantee standards
- Notifying the Supervisor or Chargehand of delays, breakdowns, or equipment damages
- Coordinating maintenance checks, inspections, and timely report submissions
- Ensuring proper pre-task briefings and validated quality outputs

Who We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Strong communication skills (across all hierarchy levels)
- Ability to collaborate as a team member
- Proactive direction and self-review mindset
- Practical understanding of:
- Work package plans, method statements, risk assessments (including lift plans)
- Site-specific rules and procedures
- HSE/CSGS licence
- Multi-skilled background (e.g., Traffic Marshalling, Manual Handling)
- Qualifications as an:
- Industrial Counterbalance Tower Operative
- Telehandler Operative
