Slaughterman – Bodmin, UK
Kepak Group, one of Europe’s leading food producers, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Slaughter Hall team at our Bodmin site as a Skilled Slaughterman.
This role is positioned within the critical food production industry, which supplies high-quality food products globally. As a Slaughterman at Kepak, you will contribute to our proud heritage of meat craft, trusted quality, and exceptional service.

Role Overview & Responsibilities
You will work within slaughtering and meat preparation, performing precise tasks such as the clean processing and cutting of meat—including specialised slaughtering and premium cuts for marketing. Core responsibilities include:
- Precision slaughter and meat processing, working with knives and equipment according to production specifications.
- Cutting and trimming meat to the highest quality and safety standards.
- Maintaining cleanliness and complying with all safety regulations and hygiene standards.
- Meeting production targets through efficient teamwork to ensure timely task completion.
- Storing and handling meat to prevent waste, spoilage, and contamination.
- Performing quality inspections to ensure products meet rigorous standards.
- Continuous improvement in knife skills and meat processing techniques through training and practice.

The ability to work at height will be provided with structured training.
Working Conditions
- Hours: Monday to Friday, from 06:30 AM until production completion.
- Break policy: Two 30-minute breaks per day.
- Weekends: Off.
- Contract type: Full-time, 45 hours per week (any additional hours compensate at time-and-a-quarter pay).
- Transport: Personal transportation essential due to the site’s location and transport frequency.
Salary
- Wage: £20.44 per hour.
Requirements & Essential Qualifications
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Current Slaughterman Licence (preferred)
- Food Hygiene Certification
- Clear understanding of animal welfare practices

- Extensive experience in a similar role within the food production industry.
- Exceptional knife skills with precision and speed.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to high-pressure, production-driven conditions with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Full commitment to health and safety regulations, and compliance with procedures.
- Physical stamina and capacity to lift heavy objects as needed.
- Effective communication and teamwork, collaborating at all levels within the workplace.
