Skilled Trades Teacher (SEN & SEMH Setting)

A nurturing independent specialist school in Tameside is looking for a Skilled Trades Teacher to join their close-knit school (ECTs and unqualified teachers welcome).

This is a unique opportunity to join this well-established education group in supporting pupils with diverse needs. The school is looking for a Skilled Trades Teacher with proven experience of working with SEND or SEMH pupils. You will be inspiring students through skilled trades such as plastering and joinery and making a real difference in their lives.

Job description:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Plastering and Joinery lessons, to KS4 & KS5 pupils with complex SEMH, ASC, and other learning needs
  • Alongside the curriculum, providing emotional regulation and sensory support
  • Promoting independence and confidence through tailored, nurture-focused learning
  • Tracking progress and contribute to EHCP processes
  • Preparing pupils for transition to KS4 and KS5

Working hours: 8:15am - 4pm

Starting: as soon as possible/September

Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 (Pro rata - Term Time - Only 39 Weeks)

Person specification:

  • Experience of teaching, preferably in a SEN setting
  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2/3+ and/or significant industry experience
  • Experience teaching in SEND, PRU, or with learners with SEMH needs is desirable
  • Experience of adapting teaching to various needs
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Adaptable, resilient, and empathetic attitude
  • Relevant vocational qualifications
