Skilled/Semi-skilled Abattoir Operative

We are looking for Skilled and Semi-Skilled Abattoir Operatives to join our existing team at Llanybydder. The role involves carrying out humane slaughtering and processing of lamb and beef in line with industry regulations. You will work as part of a team to ensure the efficient processing of livestock, whilst maintaining high standards of hygiene and health and safety.
We would love to hear from individuals who enjoy working with others, taking pride in doing things properly and feel comfortable following procedures in a regulated environment.
You’ll be someone who:
- Follows instructions and works with care and consistency.
- Upholds and shares our strong values and supports a positive team culture.
- Proven experience in a red meat abattoir – particularly with lamb and/or beef.
- An understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Commitment to animal welfare and ethical practices.
- Communicates well and works well with others.
- Is reliable and hardworking.
- Ability to work in a demanding environment.
- CoC essential for Skilled Operative role.
- Proven experience in using bladed tools and heavy duty processing equipment.

Responsibilities
Your Main Duties will include:
- Processing lamb and cattle in accordance with health, safety, and animal welfare standards.
- Duties may include skinning and evisceration of both lamb and beef carcasses to the highest standard.
- Operating machinery and other equipment to prepare the carcass for further processing.
- Maximizing yields whilst minimizing contamination and waste.
- Work to production targets whilst ensuring quality and consistency.
- Adhering to departmental Standard Operating Procedures and maintaining high standards.
- Assist with cleaning and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
