About The Role

Would you enjoy building the workforce strategy that helps deliver the UK & Ireland's renewable energy future? As our Skills and Workforce Planning Manager, you'll shape how we attract, develop and retain the talent needed to support major renewable energy projects, business growth, and the transition to a lower-carbon future.

In this role, you'll lead a critical business priority – identifying future skills needs, strengthening workforce capability, and creating sustainable talent pipelines that support our ambitious growth plans. Your insight and expertise will help ensure we have the people, skills and capacity needed to deliver today and in the years ahead.

The Opportunity

As Skills and Workforce Planning Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting EDF power solutions' ambitious growth plans. You'll shape the workforce and skills strategy that ensures we have the capability, capacity and talent needed to deliver major renewable energy projects and support the UK's transition to a net zero future.

Working closely with senior leaders, HR, Learning and Development and project teams, you'll have the visibility and influence to help shape strategic business decisions.

This is an opportunity to create lasting impact. From building sustainable skills pipelines and strengthening succession readiness to improving workforce insight and reducing reliance on reactive recruitment, your work will help ensure EDF power solutions UK&I has the people and capabilities needed to achieve its target of delivering 10GW of low-carbon energy by 2035.

Location: Working on a Hybrid basis from one of our offices, Edinburgh, Durham or London. We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, meaning you can work comfortably from home with our offices as your base location.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Skills and Workforce Planning Manager who can think strategically, navigate complexity and turn insight into action. You'll be comfortable working with ambiguity, influencing senior stakeholders, and building practical solutions that support business growth. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

  • Significant experience in workforce planning, organisational development or strategic HR
  • Experience developing workforce plans within engineering, infrastructure, construction or renewable energy sectors
  • Strong analytical capability with experience of workforce modelling and forecasting
  • Experience developing skills frameworks, capability matrices or competency models
  • Experience presenting complex workforce data and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Experience identifying skills gaps and developing workforce or capability strategies
  • Experience supporting succession planning, talent development or organisational capability programmes

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing and implementing the business workforce planning strategy aligned to organisational objectives
  • Embedding a workforce planning framework to forecast short, medium and long-term workforce demand
  • Improving visibility of current and future workforce capability across the business
  • Identifying workforce risks, capability gaps and future resource requirements
  • Building and maintaining skills frameworks and capability matrices
  • Leading succession planning activities for critical and specialist roles
  • Managing the Early Careers strategy, including graduates, apprentices and industrial placements
  • Developing workforce dashboards, metrics and insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Partnering with senior leaders to understand future capability requirements
  • Monitoring labour market trends and identifying innovative approaches to workforce planning and skills development
