Liverpool Business School (LBS)

Liverpool Business School (LBS), part of Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), is a forward-thinking institution that nurtures talent and equips students with the knowledge, experience and networks to excel in business. Our teaching and learning environment is underpinned by research and scholarship, with programmes and partnerships that deliver practical impact locally, nationally and internationally.

Recently named Business School of the Year (2025/26) by Times Higher Education, LBS embeds digital literacy, employability, internationalisation and responsible business education across its programmes. Our Business Clinic gives students experience through live consultancy projects and year-end accounts for organisations across the Liverpool City Region.

The Role

The appointed person will make broad contributions to Liverpool Business School, particularly in professional development and employability. We are seeking an experienced academic or practitioner who can design and deliver high-quality teaching materials, support excellent learning and help students develop the confidence, skills and career readiness to succeed during their studies and beyond graduation.

Working within a collaborative academic community, the role holder will contribute to programme planning, design and development, and to the effective management and delivery of teaching. They will support curriculum enhancement in professional development, employability, work-related learning and graduate outcomes, ensuring learning activities are inclusive, engaging, research-informed and professionally relevant.

What we are looking for

  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level or delivering professional training.
  • A strong commitment to ensuring an outstanding student experience.
  • Ability to provide excellent pastoral and academic support, advice and guidance to students that takes account of their individual needs and circumstances, signposting to specialist services where appropriate.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment through inclusive, research-informed teaching.
  • For the Senior Lecturer post: a proven record of conducting high-quality research, reflected in the authorship of high-quality publications or other research outputs.
  • For the Teaching and Professional Practice post: a record of identifying areas for professional practice and knowledge exchange collaboration, and the ability to form effective collaboration.
  • For the post of Senior Lecturer Teaching and Professional Practice, for candidates who do not hold a PhD, it is desirable to be enrolled on a PhD programme and have a clear, current plan for completion in a relevant area.
