Supply Logistics Inventory Control Team (SLICT) Manager

Salary & Role Details

  • Salary Range: £53,000 to £55,000
  • Level (Internal): JFF Level 6
  • Location: GB – Yeovil – Lysander Road
  • Employment Type: Permanent
  • Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Salary Framework Clarification

Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. This range aligns with the approved grade band, potentially adjusted to external market benchmarks. Salary exceptions above this range are managed to ensure internal equity.


Your Impact

As the SLICT Manager, you will lead the Material Service element for our Military Export (MILEX) contracts, delivering material support to a global customer base while driving cost savings, efficiency, and business performance.

This role significantly impacts contract delivery, with duties spanning customer relationships, strategy alignment, resource planning, training, budget oversight, and asset accountability. Your teams’ contributions enhance both platform support and operational excellence.


What You Will Do

Core Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Management:

    • Build and sustain customer-facing relationships and collaborations with senior management, ensuring effective communication of material issues.
    • Lead and develop a team of Availability Officers and Controllers to deliver sustainable solutions globally.
  • Operational Excellence:

    • Oversee material and operational supply, ensuring production to customer requirements.
    • Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Programmes, Engineering, and MRP to prioritise activity and optimise resource flow.
    • Monitor contract performance metrics, assessing risks and proactively safeguarding customer satisfaction.

  • Incremental & Vendor Representation:

    • Represent Material Services at customer discussions and temporarily deputise for the Delivery Manager.
    • Conduct asset allocation impact assessments and deliver actionable insights to leadership.
  • Problem Solving:

    • Escalate and manage logistical challenges to the Head of Material Services as needed.
    • Support internal reports, including forecasting, variance analysis, and root-cause diagnostics.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven team leadership with a track record of delivering top-tier customer service (both internal/external).
  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate, including at senior levels across customer and commercial stakeholders.
  • Technical aptitude in logistics, material planning, and supply chain management—preferably within the aerospace sector.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, balancing urgency with rigor in high-pressure environments.
  • Familiarity with customer planning processes and complex contractual obligations, including inventory, financial prudence, and asset accountability.
  • Commitment to security clearance processes, set by the UK Government’s baseline security standards.

Desirable Traits

  • Experience managing fast-paced commercial environments and/or cross-departmental partnerships.
  • Demonstrable experience achieving performance gains while working to tight deadlines.
