DWR is one of the largest state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary, small animal specialist referral hospitals in Europe, based near Cambridge, UK. We are the largest training hospital in the country, running residency programmes across many disciplines.

We are a busy, purpose-built, referral-only small animal veterinary hospital, strategically located between Newmarket (home of horse racing) and Cambridge (known for its world-class university and amenities).

Our Facilities

  • State-of-the-art surgical, diagnostic, and hospitalisation suites
  • On-site reference laboratory with in-house clinical pathology and diagnostic histopathology
  • Expansion underway: a brand-new building to establish a truly world-class hospital

About the Role

We are seeking an RCVS, ECVIM, or ACVIM board-certified Specialist in Internal Medicine to join our growing and dynamic team at DWR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide elite clinical referral services in internal medicine for small animals
  • Actively participate in our ECVIM-approved residency training programme
  • Mentor and supervise final-year veterinary students from the University of Nottingham during rotations
  • Collaborate in research, contributing to existing UK and global veterinary research programmes
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team covering:
    • Internal medicine
    • Oncology & cardiology (led by ECVIM specialists)
    • Soft tissue surgery
    • Orthopaedics
    • Ophthalmology
    • Neurology
    • Emergency & Critical Care
    • Dermatology
    • Anaesthesia
    • Diagnostic imaging
    • Physiotherapy
    • Clinical pathology

Requirements

  • Board-certified as either:
    • RCVS Specialist in Internal Medicine
    • ECVIM (European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine) Specialist
    • ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine) Specialist
  • Experience in a high-volume referral hospital preferred
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and teach veterinary professionals and students
  • Passion for clinical excellence, research, and collegial teamwork
