Location: Roseworthy, SA, Australia, 5371 Classification: HEO4 Employment Type: Continuous - Full-time Salary Range: $73,961 to $81,067 plus 17% superannuation

About the Role

Based at Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital, this Full-time continuing and fixed-term role is part of a 24/7 rotating roster. Participation in the roster offers the opportunity to generate substantial additional earnings through roster penalties and shift loadings, potentially increasing total remuneration by around 30–40% above the provided base salary.

The Small Animal Veterinary Nurse - Emergency Critical Care will work in a dynamic hospital environment, delivering high-quality, 24/7 patient care across consultations, procedures, treatments, and surgeries in the Small Animal Hospital.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Patient Monitoring and Care:

    • Implementing comprehensive patient monitoring and care protocols
    • Assisting with anaesthesia and imaging preparation
    • Supporting emergency triage and stabilisation
  • Clinical Support:

    • Providing treatment implementation and client communication
    • Participating in clinical teaching and mentoring of veterinary students

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate requirements include:

Experience

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, or a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
  • Minimum two years’ relevant veterinary nursing experience
  • Hands-on experience in areas such as surgery, emergency, internal medicine, or general practice
  • Clinical experience maintaining best practices and practice management software
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, or train veterinary students
  • Experience applying Occupational Health and Safety and biosecurity protocols
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the fast-paced environment
  • Experience in a 24/7 rotational roster
