Job Summary

Wolds Wildlife Park have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Small Mammal/Primate keeper to join our small team! You will work 40 hours per week over 5 days including weekends and bank holidays.

This is a hands-on, physical role suited to someone with a passion for Small Mammals & Primate species. You’ll be responsible for the daily husbandry of a variety of exotic species. You will also play an important role in enclosure maintenance, record-keeping, enrichment, and public education. You may be needed to assist on the other sections at the park, so flexibility would be essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent husbandry standards and welfare to the Small Mammal & Primate section within the park.
  • Ensure all animals receive appropriate daily care, nutrition, and enrichment.
  • Monitoring health and behaviours, administering medications under veterinary guidance.
  • Collect and record detailed and accurate animal records.
  • Engage with visitors on site, which will include delivering or assisting with animal talks and public experiences.

  • 2 years paid experience working with Small Mammals & Primate species in a zoo or similar environment.
  • Relevant animal management qualifications or DMZAA.
  • Knowledge of ZIMS.
  • High standards of practical skills in animal husbandry, including training and enrichment.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records of animal care and welfare.

  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Excellent punctuality and time keeping.
  • Hard working and highly motivated.
  • Full driving license.
