Job Description
About Clearmatics
Clearmatics is a blockchain protocol engineering company that builds decentralized financial market infrastructures that are more open, efficient, and resilient than those serving legacy market structures of today.
Our bold vision for this new market infrastructure aims to enable participants to solve currently unaddressed problems of the real economy, including “missing markets” issues. We are working towards this vision with technologies that facilitate peer-to-peer trading and settlement within new markets, utilizing digital assets that track real-world risk factors previously unexploited in legacy markets.
Our mission, no matter the nature of a risk factor—whether macro-economic or climatic—is to make these important risk factors tradable by anyone, anywhere, without reliance on financial intermediaries. We are building this new infrastructure together with exceptional trading and blockchain communities.
Founded in 2015, Clearmatics has been a devoted advocate for Open Source development and a dynamic participant in both blockchain and cryptography research communities. We are also strong supporters of decentralized infrastructure initiatives.
We are currently seeking a Smart Contract Engineer to join our Layer 1 Engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain decentralized financial smart contracts on Autonity, facilitating the creation of decentralized risk markets in real-world risk factors.
- Work on a variety of problems including smart derivatives, DEX trading & settlement protocols, algorithmic stabilization, data oracles, liquid staking, and more.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers and protocol engineers to transform research models and prototypes into production-grade Solidity code.
- Work with Autonity core developers to enhance L1 protocol contracts and integrate new features into the Autonity Go Client.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
