Data Analyst – Smart Metering MAP Business
About the Role
Exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Data Analyst to join our Smart Metering MAP Business at Northern Powergrid.
Our vision is to be the best energy company serving 3.9 million homes while delivering a sustainable energy solution. As a Smart Metering Data Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring metering assets are effectively tracked, managed, and maintained throughout their lifecycle.

Job Banding
£38,194 to £43,924 (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret data and analyse results using statistical techniques; produce ongoing reports
- Acquire data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databasesystems as required
- Filter and "clean" data by reviewing system reports, printouts, and performance indicators
- Identify and correct data integrity issues
- Use Microsoft Power BI to manipulate data and create tailored reports
- Attend supplier meetings to assist the Contract Manager with data needs (e.g., supporting firmware updates)
- Assist in meter billing for absences due to holidays/sickness
- Stakeholder management: Adapt communication style; influence decisions and resolve conflicts
- Strong written and spoken communication skills; maintain high-quality, structured outputs
- Prioritise tasks effectively while ensuring deadlines are met with precision
- Prove expertise in problem-solving through data interpretation and analysis

Essential Experience & Qualifications
✔ Experience in report production ✔ Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI ✔ Level 3 Data Analyst qualification (or equivalent) ✔ Minimum qualification of NVQ Level 4 (or HNC) or 2 A-Levels
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of DAX, SQL, or Python Programming
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Experience in billing and invoicing systems
- Background in asset tracking (updating, monitoring, and reporting)
- Ability to compile and present management reports
