The Role – Reporting to the Mid-Market Sales Manager

The SME Account Manager is a critical business-critical role, responsible for:

  • Retaining and growing revenue through mid-market customers.
  • Attracting new business while optimising sales opportunities.
  • Selling the full TalkTalk Business portfolio—ensuring customers fully benefit from our unified offerings.
  • Fostering strong, multi-level relationships with clients, from C-suite executives to operational teams, to enhance wallet share and drive referrals.

You’ll be proactive in identifying sales leads and ensuring all targets are met, collaborating across teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences—resolving issues and closing sales opportunities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Portfolio Management:

    • Retain, grow, and develop a portfolio of mid-market customers (SMEs through to enterprise-level).
    • Drive revenue growth via upselling, cross-selling, and new business acquisition.
  • Relationship Building & Sales Execution:

    • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with customers at all levels, including C-level stakeholders.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, aligning TalkTalk Business solutions with customer business goals.
  • Sales & Opportunity Conversion:

    • Leverage strong commercial acumen to identify, qualify, and convert sales opportunities.
    • Promote the entire TalkTalk Business portfolio—covering connectivity, SD WAN, Cisco Meraki, hosted telephony, and beyond.
  • Collaborative Delivery:

    • Work cross-functionally to troubleshoot and enhance customer experiences, resolving issues swiftly.
  • Performance & Forecasting:

    • Manage pipeline forecasting, sales targets, and attrition diligently.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven industry experience in account management, ideally within telecommunications.
  • Strong commercial mindset with a robust grasp of revenue forecasting and customer attrition risk.
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to articulate complex solutions to customer and internal stakeholders.
  • Preference for technical acumen in areas such as:
    • SD WAN
    • Cisco Meraki
    • Hosted telephony solutions
  • Proactive, ambitious, and results-driven with a focus on relationship building and targeted growth.
