SME Sales Executive
SME Sales Executive Role
We are looking for an SME Sales Executive to join our rapidly expanding business sales team.
The core function of this role is to expand Ecotricity’s SME customer base in line with forecasted growth. The successful candidate will deliver effective account management to drive new business acquisition and retention.
About the Role
As an SME Sales Executive, you will:
- Assist with sales campaigns
- Collaborate with the wider sales team, B2B service teams, and the trading department to retain and acquire business energy contracts
- Work closely with business registration and service departments to ensure smooth operations for existing customers
This varied, challenging and rewarding role requires excellent communication skills and strong organisational ability. You will be based in a location allowing weekly office attendance in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver agreed individual targets in alignment with the overall B2B plan
- Provide excellent customer service through strong customer relationships, understanding business needs to meet targets
- Create and manage quotations for Gas and Power contracts, from tender stage through negotiation and acceptance
- Develop and execute a contact strategy to engage existing customers and acquire new business
- Collaborate with other departments to cross-promote the company brand and products
- Propose and implement innovative solutions for securing new clients
- Support the launch of new products and services, cross-selling where applicable
- Follow up on internal account requests, including sales call-backs, account management, and industry queries
- Provide aftersales support and manage customer care
- Attend off-site client meetings as required
- Generate standard and ad-hoc reporting for senior leaders
- Ensure availability for customer calls and proactive teamwork with the SME sales team to cover phone lines
- Process change of tenancies via CRM and Salesforce and follow up on all sales opportunities

About You
Essential Skills & Qualities
- Familiarity with the energy industry (desirable but not essential)
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce/CRM skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer literacy
- Ability to analyse data, spot opportunities, and make data-driven decisions
- Strong relationship-building skills, able to leverage existing networks with senior stakeholders
- Experience in managing multiple stakeholders to meet account objectives and customer expectations
- Commercial mindset to identify and exploit new opportunities
- High numeracy and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time management and organisation to handle competing deadlines
- Excellent networking and relationship-building capabilities
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining meeting deadlines
- Confidence to drive and control meetings with external clients
- Strategic thinking to contribute to overall B2B strategy, including channel-specific strategies
