This is a fantastic opportunity for a technical-minded and engineering enthusiast who wants to be part of a small specialist engineering team, someone that enjoys engineering and its challenges a candidate who is looking to become part of the engineering excellence team, especially within a Data Centre / critical environment.
Ideal candidates will come from a similar sector, be electrically biased with Senior HV- Authorised or high Voltage authorised, be technically experienced within a high-pressure engineering excellence environment, be capable and driven to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in as well as proven technical support to a number of situations onsite and across EMEA and some UK – Travel and staying away is an essential part of the job.
The position
The Senior Electrical Engineer assists the Electrical Engineering Manager and SME team, providing electrical engineering services and guidance on all our electrical systems and ensuring correct operation within the Data Centre specifications.

Responsibilities and Tasks
- Assisting in optimising electrical systems to provide high levels of efficiency, resiliency, and reliability.
- Reviewing and sign-off critical switching and complex RAMS for electrical work.
- Completing HV/LV Switching, HV SAP Duties supporting AP appointments and managing Authorised Persons.
- Validation of electrical SOP/EOPs.
- Assisting the incident manager and customer operational team with the technical information needed for the incident reports.
- Assisting the Electrical Engineering Manager in drafting specification documents for new builds and or any other electrical projects.
- Reviewing, commenting on contractors, and nominating sub-contractor design documentation.
- Organising training for Critical / Shift engineers/supervisors/ shift leaders on any electrical systems ad hoc or planned.
- Assisting with the commissioning of existing upgrades and new builds; leading electrical elements where required and the sign-off of electrical systems.
- Taking ownership of any key electrical issues and push progression, and as part of this, ensuring the ticketing system is up to date.
- Assisting the Technical Department to ensure compliance with Electrical Health & Safety related policies and procedures.
- And any other duties relevant to and commensurate with the position and the running of the function.

Professional Skills – Ideal qualifications
- City and Guilds Electrical Installation Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
- Inspection and Testing City and Guilds 2391 (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulation
- High Voltage Electrical Switching Operations Training
- First Aid Training
- HNC/HND Electrical Engineering (preferable)
- Work towards professional registration (C-eng, IEng, EngTec)
Soft skills
- Critical Environment/Data CENTRE experience (preferable)
- Previous Experience as HV/LV AP/SAP completing complex switching programs.
- Good knowledge of switchgear and associated equipment.
- Good IT experience in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Good communication skills to ensure the ability to work across different departments and regions.
