Role Description

BAE Systems have been contracted to undertake the design and build of a dedicated Security Operations Centre (SOC) to support the cyber defence of a major international defence programme. The information, systems and networks to be protected will be a mix of Microsoft Cloud services and on-premises data centres straddling multiple regions and classification levels.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual with excellent technical and client-facing skills, to act as SOC Service Architect to lead, architect and design of Security Operations Centre solutions delivered to customers. This is a senior role and the individual will be expected to lead and shape Service aspects of solutions across People, Policy and Process, Technology and Physical Infrastructure layers and help lead teams to meet requirements and achieve objectives.

Engage with client stakeholders to understand and/or define security requirements, including any accreditation requirements. Lead the Service aspects of the architecture and design for SOC solutions (across people, process, technology and physical layers) including input to CONOPS, high level designs, low level designs and deployment level designs. Service aspects of engineering leadership and engineering management for delivery of Security Operations Centre operational services through all stages of the engineering lifecycle from concept, through requirements definition, design & build to transition into service operation. Contribute to engineering leadership and management for solutions delivered to customers. Contribute to the development of solution architectures (across service, people, process, technology and physical layers) in collaboration with other design team members. Understand and leverage BAE Systems experience, IP and expertise, with support of product and subject matter experts, to deliver secure solutions.

Core Duties

Solution architecture and design of service aspects of Security Operations Centre solutions to meet specific customer requirements. Engineering leadership and management for design, build, deployment and operation of Security Operations Centre operational services. Understanding of industry best practice in Security Operations for Services, People, Policy and Process. Understanding of common threats and mitigation techniques. Proficiency in risk assessment and vulnerability management. Knowledge of OnPrem technology architectures including: Security controls and detection tools & networking and secure network architectures. Recognised ITSM certification (e.g. ITIL). Good knowledge and experience of common Enterprise ICT services. Experience working with Government systems and senior stakeholders.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
