Social Emotional Mental Health Support
Milk Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Mentor in Derby.
As a Youth Mentor, you’ll support students with behavioural needs, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students with behavioural challenges in both one-to-one and group settings
- Support the development and implementation of individual behaviour plans
- Provide guidance and positive reinforcement to encourage students’ social and emotional growth
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to monitor and assess student progress
- Offer strategies and interventions to help students manage their behaviour and emotions
- Maintain clear records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and staff
- Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment

Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or support setting
- Understanding of child development, particularly in relation to behaviour and emotional needs
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging situations
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting children with diverse needs
- A relevant qualification in education, psychology, or related fields (desirable but not essential)
