Social Emotional Mental Health Support

Milk Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Mentor in Derby.

As a Youth Mentor, you’ll support students with behavioural needs, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist students with behavioural challenges in both one-to-one and group settings
  • Support the development and implementation of individual behaviour plans
  • Provide guidance and positive reinforcement to encourage students’ social and emotional growth
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to monitor and assess student progress
  • Offer strategies and interventions to help students manage their behaviour and emotions
  • Maintain clear records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and staff
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or support setting
  • Understanding of child development, particularly in relation to behaviour and emotional needs
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging situations
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting children with diverse needs
  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, or related fields (desirable but not essential)
