Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Engagement Volunteer
About the Role
We’re seeking a friendly, reliable volunteer to help us stay connected with our online community as the welcoming voice behind our social media channels. You’ll respond to comments and messages, engage with our audience, and encourage followers to connect with our pages.
Your role will make a meaningful difference—by driving our digital strategy, you’ll connect people in emotional pain with vital peer support and counselling resources, directly supporting Reach Out for Mental Health’s mission.
Role Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions across social media channels.
- Maintain a supportive, stigma-free tone in all interactions.
- Invite engaging users to follow and like our pages.
- Flag safeguarding concerns or complex queries to the relevant team.
- Work independently but collaborate with the Founder and marketing team bi-weekly (55-minute remote meetings).
- Bring fresh ideas and perspectives to enhance community engagement.

Commitment
- Time required: 2–4 hours per week (flexible—more time welcome!).
- Ability to work: Remotely, with independent and collaborative support.
Requirements & Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience in:
- Marketing, communications, PR, content creation, or social media management (or a similar field).
- Content management systems, social media platforms, web analytics tools, and digital marketing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organisational and interpersonal skills—adequate for managing assignments independently.
- Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Canva).
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Interest in mental health or suicide prevention—preferably paired with:
- Lived experience of:
- Suicidal thoughts, bereavement by suicide, personal mental health challenges.
- Supporting someone with mental health issues.
