Company Description

Girls I Rate, founded in 2016 by acclaimed songwriter Carla Marie Williams, is a movement dedicated to creating a platform and voice for women and girls to collaborate, celebrate, and empower each other. The organization brings together talent, influencers, advocates, and creatives who share a passion for inclusion and equity in the creative industries. Through community-driven initiatives and events, Girls I Rate provides opportunities for growth, visibility, and development. With the support of partners, sponsors, and GIR members, the movement works collectively to achieve its mission and drive meaningful change. Prospective team members will join a purpose-led environment focused on impact, collaboration, and representation.

Role Description

The Social Media Manager is a part-time, hybrid role based in London, with flexibility for some work from home. In this role, the individual will plan, create, and publish content across social media platforms to amplify Girls I Rate’s mission, events, and campaigns. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Managing social media calendars
  • Writing engaging posts and captions
  • Optimizing content for reach and engagement
  • Monitoring platform analytics to inform strategy
  • Responding to comments and messages
  • Supporting community-building initiatives
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent brand voice

They will also stay informed about social media trends relevant to women and girls in creative industries and make data-informed recommendations to improve performance.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong awareness of current trends, black music, youth culture
  • Be able to identify music & entertainment leaders & influencers

Candidates should possess:

  • Strong Social Media Marketing and Social Media Optimization (SMO) skills for planning campaigns, growing audiences, and improving engagement.
  • Proficient expertise using tools such as Chat GPT, CRM, AI, Canva AI.
  • Content Strategy and Writing skills to create clear, compelling, and mission-aligned content across platforms.
  • Excellent Communication skills for engaging online communities, collaborating with partners, and representing the brand voice.

Experience managing social media channels (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, X, Spotify, LinkedIn, Facebook) and using analytics tools to track performance is beneficial. Understanding of communities focused on women and girls, creative industries, or social impact initiatives is advantageous. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and coordinate with a hybrid team in London is important. Previous experience in social media management, digital marketing, or community management, and familiarity with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) are beneficial.
