About the Role

This role exists to ensure Cazoo is being talked about in the right places, in the right way, and through a distinct voice that doesn’t sound like any other car company online.

The Social Media Manager position means you’ll have responsibility for:

  • The end-to-end strategy for content, community management, and reporting across social platforms
  • The Brentford partnership presence.

This is not a scheduling role—it’s content-first, platform-native, and calls for someone who knows how to tailor content for each platform and doesn’t rely on guesswork.

What You’ll Own:

Core Responsibilities

  • Content Across All Platforms

    • Plan, produce, schedule, and publish content for Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
    • Tailor content for each platform—this is not about reposting blindly.
  • Content Calendar

    • Build and maintain a single organised calendar covering all channels.
    • Coordinate activities to ensure visibility for the wider team while revealing what’s coming up.
  • Budget Management

    • Operate in a budget-conscious, fast-paced space where creativity > production value.
    • Embrace a "scrappy" mindset—speed and relevance matter.
  • Agency Management

    • Brief, manage, and quality-check external agencies on brand, timing, and budget.
  • Internal Collaboration

    • Work across brand, product, and customer teams to source ideas and internal developments into useful public content.
  • Community Engagement

    • Handle daily responses across channels, building relationships and managing tricky situations with strength.

  • Social Listening

    • Track conversations about Cazoo, the category, and the broader used-car market.
    • Share insights back to refine content and strategy.
  • Competitive Analysis

    • Keep eyes on competitors’ platforms, campaigns, and tonal approach to refine Cazoo’s strategy.
  • Analytics & Reporting

    • Own reporting for all channels, track key metrics, share clarity, and use results to enhance next month’s efforts.
  • Brentford Partnership Content

    • Develop and distribute social content related to the football partnership, including behind-the-scenes content and co-branded campaigns.
  • Reactive Content

    • Quickly and effectively create content in response to trends and wider social conversation.
  • Influencers & Creators

    • Brief and manage external influencers and creators to extend Cazoo’s reach.

What We’re Looking For:

Must-Have

  • Proven experience managing social media across Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Expertise in native content for each platform—this is about understanding genuine platform behaviors, e.g., TikTok/Reddit engagement relies on authentic participation.
  • High organisational ability to develop and maintain multi-channel calendars efficiently.
  • Direct experience with agency or external content management.
  • Engagement with audiences—ability to appear in front of the camera, directly speak to followers and create content.
  • Demonstrated craftsmanship: copywriting aligned with brand voice, including versatility based (without losing) a tone.
  • Data-driven decision-making: comfortability with social analytics, translating data into actionable plans.
  • Advice and composure in community difficulty—escalating issues with finesse.
  • Knowing how to pitch and execute campaigns tie social presence to broader business goals and scale influence—not just seeking vanity numbers.
  • Strategic insight into how organic and paid social can synergise for growth.

Nice-to-Have

  • Prior work in automotive, retail, e-commerce, or any fast-moving consumer-focused brand.
  • Experience with social listening tools and competing competitor monitoring.
  • Basic proficiency in video/photo editing to meet rapid content demands, if needed.
  • Familiarity with platforms like Meta Ads, Google Analytics, Canva.
