Social Media Manager – Prospectus (-secondment) for Material Focus
About the Role
Are you an inspiring Social Media Manager with a passion for the environment?
Prospectus is delighted to be supporting Material Focus – an independent not-for-profit organisation on a mission to stop the valuable, critical and finite materials inside electricals from going to waste. Together with partners, Material Focus is transforming the UK’s e-waste system and empowering more people to reuse and recycle their electricals through the award-winning UK-wide Recycle Your Electricals campaign, for the good of people, our economy, and our planet.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a driven and highly successful Marketing and Communications team in a newly created role. Brand consistency is key when influencing behaviour change, so you will ensure all content is aligned, engaging, and impactful.

- Improve the UK’s e-waste management system.
- Amplify their award-winning Recycle Your Electricals campaign.
- Empower citizens to adopt sustainable behaviours through research-backed outreach.

- Developing and maintaining a clear, structured social media content calendar aligned to campaigns, partners, and audience engagement goals.
- Creating and curating high-impact content (carousels, videos, blog snippets, memes) for key B2C platforms (focused on platforms like Instagram, Twitter/X, and Facebook, with secondary LinkedIn usage).
- Collaborating with stakeholders, partners, and funded project leads to amplify historically significant and emerging work.
- Proactively proposing fresh campaigns and branded infographics, and translating them into engaging social assets.
- Influencing behaviour change through visually compelling messaging while maintaining brand consistency.
- Supporting rapid response content production when **trends, news items, or partnerships align—**with agency to challenge and prioritise.
- Staying ahead of trends, platform algorithms, and native features to ensure optimal reach and conversion.
Key Traits & Mindset
You’ll thrive if you:
- Live and breathe social media – know how to tailor messaging for near-flat algorithms, trend tracking, and platform-native formats.
- Are highly organised and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, campaign-heavy role.
- Love reuse/recycle/zero waste – this sector isn’t obligatory, but ideal if you’re motivated to drive meaningful environmental change.
- Are detail-oriented, proactive, and self-starter with fresh ideas to translate into engaging content.
- Have experience in environmental marketing (bonus!) but aren’t required to – prioritisation matters most.

About the Working Arrangement
Hybrid role – one day a week in office (Virginia office location).
