About the Role
Our three hospital charities fundraise so that Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust can provide exceptional care for their patients. The Social Media Officer plays a pivotal role in developing and executing a dynamic social media strategy across multiple charity brands, ensuring brand growth, engagement and fundraising success.
Core responsibilities
- Support the Social Media Manager in delivering an engaging and impactful experience across all social channels
- Manage day-to-day organic activity - including content creation (both static and video), daily community engagement, and content workflow coordination
- Oversee the social media calendar to ensure consistent, high-quality content aligned with key awareness days and strategic priorities
- Generate weekly and monthly reporting using analytics tools to measure performance and impact
- Collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders to align social content with fundraising and engagement objectives
- Handle social account administration, including invoicing, donation reports, and basic analytics
- Provide operational support during fundraising events – including covering weekends
- Take on additional responsibilities commensurate with the role level as required

Key Skills & Experience
Skills & attributes
- Strong copywriting and editorial skills with expertise in plain English communication and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work data-driven to make informed decisions
- Experience building collaborative relationships with multi-level stakeholders
- Enduring knowledge of industry-trends, new social platforms, and best practices
- Creative mindset with experience in developing engaging content across multiple channels
- Willingness to test, innovate, and continually develop skills
- Fast-paced, proactive approach with agility to adapt to changes
Knowledge & qualifications
- Proven experience in:
- Managing content calendars including brainstorming sessions
- Creating high-impact social media content (text, images, videos) for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
- Handling cross-team collaboration and tailoring content for different business goals
- Community management – building meaningful connections with supporters
- Using scheduling tools (Sprout Social, Hootsuite)
- Adapting to different brand tones of voice, ideally in a multi-brand environment
- Data analysis (Google Analytics, social analytics tools) for decision-making
