Overview
Operation Chariot is the name of a short, sharp, audacious Raid that took place during WWII; the Raid on St Nazaire, France March 1942 which put the Normandie Dock out of action. It denied Germany use of the largest dry dock in the eastern Atlantic for the rest of the war. So the Tirpitz was unable to sink shipping in the North Atlantic. It is now known as “The Greatest Raid of All” and was a truly joint operation of the Royal Navy, Army Commandos and the Royal Air Force. It resulted in 5 VCs amongst a host of gallantry awards. It must never be forgotten.
Full information can be found at http://www.operation-chariot.org
The St Nazaire Society was formed by survivors of the Raid, meets regularly (including attendance at annual commemorative events in Falmouth, St Nazaire and London). It is now mainly run by descendants of the Charioteers albeit membership is open to all.
A separate charity, the St Nazaire Raid Memorial Trust, was established in May 2024 and launched the Operation Chariot Memorial Project (OCMP) to ensure the history, legacy, lessons learned, and the memories and artifacts are captured for the benefit of future generations and preserved for posterity. Details of OCMP can be found at [Operation Chariot Memorial Project](Operation Chariot Memorial Project)

- To take the lead in significantly expanding the reach of the Trust’s existing social media channels
- To liaise as necessary with OCMP’s Project Lead and wider project team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
