Job Title: Social Video Creator and Producer

Job Location: Leeds (hybrid)

Job Type: 37.5hrs, permanent

Salary: GBP £27,000-30,000

We are looking for an ambitious, innovative Social Video Creator & Producer to help super-charge our social media growth across the Planet Sport network of websites, with a particular focus on PlanetF1, Planet Football and Planet Rugby.

It is a multi-task role combining writing, design, video presenting and editing. The ideal candidate is a sports fanatic, highly active on social media, a skilled storyteller, and with a demonstrable ability to react to trending topics with high-quality, entertaining video content that engages and grows our audience across multiple platforms.

You will have a strong understanding of algorithms and best video SEO strategies across all social platforms, particularly TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, and will obsess over analytics and regularly develop new content formats to continue delivering success in your role.

You will report to the Social and Partnerships Lead, but will work closely with several colleagues across our web and social departments, including Head of Editorial, Site Editors, Social Media Managers, other Video Editors and Graphic Designers. You will also liaise with external production partners, including producers, videographers and talent, on a regular basis.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Content Production

  • Source, script, produce and edit social video for multiple brands
  • Write engaging, entertaining, SEO-optimised captions in the relevant tone of voice that uphold brand values
  • Liaise with colleagues to produce video to complement and promote content from the respective websites
  • Work closely with the design team to ensure published videos are engaging and on brand
  • Regularly pitch and trial new content formats to grow audience
  • Operate video equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting etc) and manage talent and workflows for on-location video shoots
  • Liaise with external production vendors and agencies on video concepts and shoots, ensuring brand and quality metrics are met
  • Oversee the full video process, from concept to post-production
  • Edit videos to a professional standard, ensuring proper branding
  • Be active in comment sections on both our posts and others’

Analytics & Management

  • Maintain a close overview of analytics across all platforms, producing reports for colleagues and leadership teams
  • Identify areas for improvement and use performance data to shape and refine content strategies
  • Manage a content calendar to ensure we publish video at key times of the sporting week and particularly around major events
  • Work closely with colleagues from multiple website teams to develop video content that properly represents the brands
  • Maintain a close eye on competitors’ output to ensure our output remains fresh, unique and engaging
  • Monitor trends and relay new content ideas confidently to colleagues and leadership
  • Develop relationships with other channels, creators and influencers
  • Identify opportunities for collaborations to help raise the profile of the brand and power audience growth
  • Help identify potential content creators for our channels, or channels we should look to acquire
  • Work with the Social and Partnerships Lead to develop social media content plans for commercial pitches

Personal Responsibility

  • Represent the company in a professional manner on your social media, appearances on other media channels, or at any events and on-location shoots
  • Take responsibility for the quality of your output, making sure it upholds the standards and tone of the brand
  • Ensure you do not publish anything potentially libellous or defamatory that could invite legal action against the company, consulting superiors whenever in doubt before publishing
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness of news and activity in the social media and sport sectors, particularly football, F1 and rugby
  • Work closely and communicate effectively with colleagues in other departments to deliver content
  • Maintain a laser focus on your personal KPIs and overall objectives for the brand
  • Submit Business Cases for any tools or equipment required for you to achieve your stated objectives
  • Be a champion for everything our brands are doing.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrable evidence of growing and engaging audiences through video on social media
  • Relevant Degree Level Qualification and/or experience of working in a media environment
  • A strong understanding of social media and how the individual platforms work
  • Experience of producing and editing video content
  • Experience of using the Adobe Creative Suite and/or equivalent programs
