Social Worker (Grade 8/9) – Recruitment & Assessment Team

Salary: £36,363 - £46,143 per annum Hours: 37 per week Contract: Full-time, Permanent Location: Lancashire & Blackpool


About the Regional Adoption Agency (RAA)

The Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) provides adoption services for Lancashire County Council, Blackpool Council, and Blackburn with Darwen Council. Our services include:

  • Recruitment and assessment of prospective adopters
  • Adoption support services
  • Family finding strategies

We aim to secure the best possible outcomes for children requiring adoptive homes.


About The Role

As a Recruitment & Assessment Social Worker, you’ll work within our Regional Adoption Agency to support prospective adopters through their adoption journey. This dynamic role involves closely collaborating with families and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit and assess prospective adopters to ensure suitability for adoption
  • Train and prepare adopters pre- and post-approval (e.g., training sessions, therapy support)
  • Support adopters throughout the matching process until child placement
  • Provide ongoing adoption support until the Adoption Order is granted
  • Contribute to a reflective learning culture, ensuring high-quality social work practice

Essential Requirements

  • Applicants must have a firm offer of allocation of a car for work (please note: If you have a disability, we may still consider your application).
  • Registered with the Social Work England as a social worker or be registered to be a social worker.
  • Will undergo DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) checks and registration as this is a designated post under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
