Our Families First team is seeking exceptional candidates who are focused on facilitating positive outcomes for our children, young people, and their families within Worcestershire.
Worcestershire is embarked on our journey through the social care reforms and has launched our new Families First multi disciplinary teams; working with children, young people and their families who have targeted needs or are identified as Children In Need. In this role you will be a key part of a friendly, innovative multi-disciplinary team with the ethos of building on existing strengths within the family in order to enable them to address their presenting needs, manage times of crisis or emerging challenges in order to ensure longer term positive changes. You will work as part of a multi disciplinary team completing Family Assessments, identifying and delivering help, support and intervention through a Family Plan. Increasing safety and protection, and engaging our partners in meeting the families presenting needs and enabling families to stay together wherever safe and appropriate to do so.
Within this role you will directly with families within their own homes and communities; carrying out direct work with children in other environments for example in the school or family hubs. A key attribute is the ability to build a positive working relationship with our families in order for their plan of support to succeed. You will be expected to liaise with our internal and external partners who are integral to plans that support our families.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
