Job Description: Experienced Social Worker (Mental Health) – London Borough of Harrow
Overview
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking permanent, Experienced Social Workers in the Mental Health Social Work Team, who are passionate about empowering citizens to reach their full potential.
In this role, you will provide a high-quality, effective service that responds to the needs of people with lived experience, their informal carers, and their families. All assessments and support plans are completed in accordance with the wellbeing principles of the Care Act 2014, reflecting a strengths-based approach that helps residents live fulfilling, independent lives within statutory guidelines.

About You
Essential Requirements
- Qualification: Must hold a qualification in social work (e.g., BSc/MA in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work/Diploma in Higher Education (Dip SW/HE), or CQSW equivalent).
- Legal Knowledge: Good demonstrable understanding of:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Mental Health Act
- Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
- DBS Check: Must have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
- Education/Experience:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent(e.g., BSc/MA in Social Work, Dip SW/HE, or relevant work experience equivalent to degree level).

Desirable Knowledge & Skills
- Strengths-Based Practice: Knowledge of social work models and interventions (particularly strengths-based approaches).
- Equality & Diversity: Knowledge of discriminated groups and the ability to ensure services are appropriately delivered to meet their needs.
