Social Worker Children in Care (CiC)

# Contract Terms

  • Starting salary: PO1 – PO4, £40,182 – £52,194 per annum
  • Work location: 48 Station Road, Wood Green, London, N22 7TY
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract type: FTC – 9 months (secondment cover)

## About the Role

Haringey Council seeks a dedicated and motivated Social Worker to join the Children in Care Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with children and young people in care, ensuring they receive the support, stability, and opportunities to thrive.
  • Develop meaningful, trusting relationships with children, carers, families, and partner agencies.
  • Manage a varied caseload, carry out statutory assessments, care planning, and decision-making.
  • Chair and contribute to professional meetings focused on safety, permanence, and positive outcomes.
  • Prioritise child-centred practice, which includes prioritising the voice of the child in decision-making.
  • Contribute to a reflective, relationship-based practice environment with continuous improvement.

## About You

We are looking for a passionate, child-focused Social Worker with the following qualities:

  • A dedicated commitment to achievement of optimal outcomes for children in care.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, working collaboratively across children, families, carers, and professional partners.
  • The confidence to handle complex caseloads using sound professional judgement.
  • Proven social work experience (.statutory setting), registrable with Social Work England.
  • Ability to handle assessment, case management, and risk assessment with empathy and responsibility.

## Key Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Proven experience in working with children and families in a statutory social work setting.
  • Deep understanding of children’s law, safeguarding frameworks, and care planning policies.
  • Skills in risk assessment, care planning, and direct practice involving children and young people.
  • Ability to foster trusting and professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical-decision-making abilities with clear written and verbal communication skills (e.g., report writing, court documentation).
  • A demonstrated commitment to relationship-based social work practices.
  • Strong awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in social work practice.
  • Dedication to continuous professional development (CPD) and reflective practice.
