About The Service
Our Family Assessment and Support Teams work with children, young people and the families who are Children in Need and in need of Protection. We have high aspirations for our children and young people and always strive to work collaboratively with families and young people, working strongly with the belief that each child and young person has a network around them, which is essential to work alongside and tap into. We have an extensive training and learning offer to support our Social Workers in their work with children and families.
Requirements
The role is very varied as we work with children and their families completing assessments and working on a longer-term basis with under Child and Family Plans and Child Protection Plans and in family court work which has included private and public law. We work with all young people from birth up to the age of 18 having strong links with other agencies externally and teams in North Yorkshire.

The team consists of a Team Manager and Practice Supervisors to support all our Social Workers in the team. The team have dedicated business support to enable Social Workers to spend more time with Children, Young People and their families. We have a well defined supervision policy which includes regular group supervisions, individual supervisions and opportunities to participate in County Wide practice model sessions, and engage in appreciative enquiry and conversation café’s about practice with our Principal Social Worker.

It is an exciting time in Children and Young Peoples Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementations for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.
