About the Role
Doncaster Children’s Services is seeking a dedicated social worker to join the Children in Care team on a short-term basis from July 2026 to April 2027, covering maternity leave.
This role aligns with relationship-based practice and trauma-informed approaches, offering a chance to work with some of the most vulnerable children and young people, fostering meaningful, lasting change.

Responsibilities & Key Requirements
You will deliver high-quality social work in alignment with Doncaster’s ethos, with the following responsibilities core to the role:

Qualification & Registration
- Hold a BA/MA Social Work degree or a qualified social work diploma
- Be registered with Social Work England

Experience & Expertise
- Proven experience in working with children in care or analogous roles within children’s services
- Strong proficiency in:
- Holistic assessment and bespoke care planning
- Timely review processes
- Child-centred advocacy, ensuring the child’s voice drives decision-making
- Skills to build trusting, transpiring relationships with:
- Children and young people
- Families
- Colleagues and partner agencies

Ability to support families in achieving positive change and enabling child potential
