Our Social Workers

Our Social Workers support the Adult Social Care Service to deliver the statutory care and support offer that the council provides to adults with care needs, to achieve their personal outcomes and goals in life. In this role you’ll be an integral part of the ‘Assessment and Care Management’ teams in the county.

Job Opportunities

We now have two great opportunities, with two Social Worker vacancies, to join the county’s high performing and citizen-focused Neurodivergent team, as part of the Health and Care Directorate at Staffordshire County Council.

Role Description

You will work within the Neurodivergent team to support Neurodivergent Adults with having personalised Care Act assessments and support plans. You'll work within a new bespoke team, set up specifically to work with Neurodivergent Adults to develop skills and independence and to lead fulfilling lives and with the Consultant Social Worker for Autism, who sits within the Neurodivergent Team, for bespoke advice guidance and support.

This role is an essential car user role.

Location: This is a hybrid role, with 2-3 office days/presence expected. This is a permanent role. There is a dual base of Stafford and Burton.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you'll:

  • Complete strengths based assessments and reviews, meeting all statutory functions including the provisions of the Care Act (2014) including assessment and case management and S42 safeguarding enquiries.
  • Create detailed support plans, through utilising local resources for the Neurodivergent citizens of Staffordshire within their local communities.
  • Utilise the provisions of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) including capacity assessments, applications to the Court of Protection and other work directed by the court.
  • Record of all case management and key decisions on the case recording system.
  • Analyse information to understand risks and develop strategies to explain, avoid or manage risk appropriately.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance processes, including peer and reflective supervision, whilst using research findings, service principles and case discussion with peers to inform and develop your professional practice.
  • Develop and co-produce support plans with the client, to maximise the independence of the adults with care and support needs.
  • Participate in development and training opportunities to progress professional development such as Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor.

Qualifications and Experience

You’ll also:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker with experience in Adult Social Care and must have a professional registration with Social Work England.
  • Have a proven track record of a person centred and asset focused outlook and have high professional standards.
  • Have sound knowledge and experience of current legislation and its application to practice in a social care setting.
  • Have an applied knowledge of The Care Act and The Mental Capacity Act and experience of undertaking safeguarding enquiries.
  • Have experience of working in complex situations using professional judgement and a range of interventions.
  • Be able to communicate in a clear, jargon-free way and in a courteous, calm, and professional manner.
