Liquid Personnel are recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join its client's Learning Disabilities Team at Cardiff.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to support adults with learning disabilities, helping them enhance their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive local authority team committed to delivering person-centred services and positive outcomes.

Hours: 37 per week

Rate: £35-£38 per hour (Umbrella)

Directorate: Adults, Housing and Communities - Learning Disabilities Team

Requirements: Social Care Wales Registration, Enhanced DBS Check

What will your responsibilities be?

As a Social Worker within the Learning Disabilities Team, you will assess, plan, implement, and review care and support arrangements for adults with learning disabilities. Working within relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, you will help safeguard vulnerable adults while promoting independence and choice.

  • Complete strengths-based assessments, reviews, and support planning.
  • Assess needs, risks, and available support options in line with statutory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and review care and support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and partner agencies.
  • Support service users to enhance their independence and coping skills.
  • Undertake safeguarding investigations and risk management responsibilities.
  • Manage and prioritise a complex caseload using professional judgement.
  • Prepare reports and participate in decision-making forums and meetings.
  • Monitor commissioned services and evaluate outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation in line with council policies.
  • Participate in duty rotas, supervision, appraisal processes, and team meetings.
  • Work within budget frameworks to identify and commission suitable care packages.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have,

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Current Social Care Wales registration.
  • Experience within Adult Social Care, ideally working with adults with learning disabilities.
  • Strong assessment, care management, and safeguarding experience.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and best practice guidance.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and case management skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
