Senior Adult Social Worker – West Devon (Devon)
Our client in Devon is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Adult Social Worker to support locality teams in West Devon.
This role demands a confident practitioner with strong legal literacy, proven leadership capability, and the capacity to manage both operational and supervisory functions within a fast-paced adult social care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct statutory assessments, including Care Act assessments, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) assessments, Best Interest decisions, and Community Depiction of Lasting Power of Attorney (DoLS) work.
- Deliver strengths-based, personalised care and support planning to delay or prevent escalating needs.
- Lead safeguarding adults by identifying and investigating concerns while coordinating protective actions with partner agencies.
- Manage a diverse caseload, supporting adults with:
- Physical disabilities
- Learning disabilities
- Mental health conditions
- Older adults with complex health needs
- Work multidisciplinary with health services, community organisations, and care providers to provide integrated, holistic support.

Requirements
To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
Qualifications:
- Professional qualification (e.g., MA, BA, BSc Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or CQSW).
- Registered with Social Work England.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of post-qualified social work experience, including completion of ASYE (Assessed & Supported Year in Employment).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Best Interest decisions
- DoLS procedures
- Safeguarding adults frameworks
Skills:
- Exceptional assessment, analysis, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven leadership and supervisory capability.
Duties Connected with Purposeful Travel:
-Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for community visits.
