Senior Adult Social Worker – West Devon (Devon)

Our client in Devon is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Adult Social Worker to support locality teams in West Devon.

This role demands a confident practitioner with strong legal literacy, proven leadership capability, and the capacity to manage both operational and supervisory functions within a fast-paced adult social care environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct statutory assessments, including Care Act assessments, Mental Capacity Act (MCA) assessments, Best Interest decisions, and Community Depiction of Lasting Power of Attorney (DoLS) work.
  • Deliver strengths-based, personalised care and support planning to delay or prevent escalating needs.
  • Lead safeguarding adults by identifying and investigating concerns while coordinating protective actions with partner agencies.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, supporting adults with:
    • Physical disabilities
    • Learning disabilities
    • Mental health conditions
    • Older adults with complex health needs
  • Work multidisciplinary with health services, community organisations, and care providers to provide integrated, holistic support.

Requirements

To apply, you must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications:

  • Professional qualification (e.g., MA, BA, BSc Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or CQSW).
  • Registered with Social Work England.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of post-qualified social work experience, including completion of ASYE (Assessed & Supported Year in Employment).
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Care Act 2014
    • Mental Capacity Act 2005
    • Best Interest decisions
    • DoLS procedures
    • Safeguarding adults frameworks

Skills:

  • Exceptional assessment, analysis, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory capability.

Duties Connected with Purposeful Travel:

-Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for community visits.
