Children and Families Social Worker – MASH Hub

2 positions available 37 hours per week

Our MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) team plays a critical role in supporting families and safeguarding vulnerable children. We collaborate closely with partners, including South Wales Police and Health, ensuring compliance with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.

Key Responsibilities

As a Social Worker within the MASH Hub, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Response & Risk Assessment: Support the progression of referrals by contacting relevant professionals, families, and unqualified practitioners to accurately assess support needs.
  • Information Gathering & Analysis: Collect, assess, and share critical safeguarding data while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Act as a conduit between agencies and services to foster a cohesive safeguarding response.
  • Participation in Safeguarding Meetings: Attend strategy/safeguarding meetings to inform and progress cases effectively.
  • Face-to-Face Visits: Conduct home visits where necessary, adhering to safeguarding protocols and maintaining evidence-based records.
  • Mentorship & Support: Assist and guide newly qualified social workers in undertaking similar functions and responsibilities.

About You

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Fully qualified Social Worker (QSW) or demonstrating competence in ** Leopoblu, Kite Marked** or equivalent professional development program.
  • Knowledge of Signs of Safety model (desirable, but full training provided).
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding principles in the context of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.
  • Awareness of statutory duty to raise concerns through the ** crianças' rights advocacy in safeguarding contexts.

Key Skills & Qualities

  • Empathy & Communication: Ability to engage effectively with families, children, and multi-agency teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilful in assessing risk, identifying needs, and implementing timely intervention.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Strong team worker who thrives in a cross-disciplinary MASH environment.
  • Time Management: Ability to multitask whilst balancing case workload within time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Professional Judgement: Sound understanding of safeguarding frameworks and ethical social work practices.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates from all professional stages (newly qualified or with 2+ years experience) encouraged to apply.
  • Right to work in the U.K. (including Malawi, British overseas territories, and countries participating in the Economic EEA Working Holiday Scheme).
  • Languages: Must be able to greet customers in Welsh (a requirement for this post).

Additional Requirements

  • Enhanced disclosure with a Criminal Records Check through the DBS process, including verification for Children’s Barred List.
  • Protecting Vulnerable Adults / Children: All candidates held to the council’s duty to safeguard, consult robust ethical guidelines.

Working Arrangements

A Hybrid Working Policy outlines the framework for balancing office-based tasks and remote working to accommodate your preference whilst adhering to safeguarding requirements.
