Social Worker / Mental Health Officer – Adult Social Work
Grantfield, Lerwick, Shetland £48,657.11 – £50,626.38 per annum (inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker (Mental Health Officer, MHO) within the Adult Social Work Team in Shetland. This team supports adults with diverse and often complex needs, but the MHO has a specialised caseload, working closely with the Community Mental Health Team and other partner agencies. While the role can be challenging, it is also highly rewarding.

Qualifications & Experience
This role is open to: ✅ Registered Social Workers holding a Mental Health Officer (MHO) award qualification ✔ If no suitable applicants have the MHO qualification, alternatively, application will be considered from those with an equivalent UK qualification, such as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)

- Salary: Full-time permanent (37 hours/week), paid annually across 52.18 weeks.
- Optional: Flexible working arrangements may be discussed.
- Travel: Must be able to travel across Shetland at short notice (public transport is limited).
- Relocation: Package available.
- PVG Scheme: Protecting Vulnerable Groups check required before offer.
- Registration: Must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) upon starting.
- Rota Duty: Will be on-call (MHO office and wider Social Work duties) as needed.
