Turning Tides is a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness in West Sussex. While our central office is in Worthing, our work spans the county – from East Grinstead to Littlehampton and across areas in between. With over 20 accommodation projects, community hubs and outreach teams, we offer local single adults tailored support to move towards a more stable future. We strongly believe in addressing the root causes for homelessness, so our specialist teams support in areas such as mental health, substance misuse, tenancy sustainment, IT skills, employment guidance and much more.

About The Role

This role is funded and is a fixed-term contract until 31/03/2028.

As the registered Social Worker at Turning Tides, you will provide tailored, person-centred interventions that respond to the diverse needs of people experiencing homelessness, substance use, mental health challenges and other intersecting needs. You will recognise the complex relationship between these experiences and work holistically to support recovery, reduce harm, strengthen resilience and improve long-term outcomes.

You will promote a strengths-based, trauma-informed and rights-based approach, ensuring people are supported to have choice, control and meaningful involvement in decisions that affect their lives. This is a unique opportunity to apply your professional expertise within the voluntary sector, with the autonomy to practise authentic, relationship-based social work that upholds dignity, choice and empowerment.

You will provide support and advice to staff, support Turning Tides’ quarterly safeguarding reviews and support the delivery of our internal safeguarding training. The ability to create positive relationships with key stakeholders, including local statutory agencies, and raising awareness of the barriers people experiencing homelessness face is key to the success of this role.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
