Social Worker – Referral and Assessment Team (Somerset)

About the Role
Join a supportive Referral and Assessment Team in Somerset, where critical decision-making shapes the lives of vulnerable children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and screen referrals from professionals, families, or the public.
- Conduct initial assessments to evaluate risk levels and service eligibility.
- Make critical decisions on whether cases require further intervention under:
- Section 17 (Child in Need)
- Section 47 (Child Protection)
- Undertake home visits and consultations with children and families.
- Collaborate with external partners, including:
- Police
- Schools
- Health services
- Other social welfare agencies
- Prepare comprehensive reports with evidence-based recommendations.
- Escalate high-risk cases to the child protection team as needed.
- Maintain accurate, timely records while ensuring efficient referral responses.

Qualifications & experience
This role requires:
✔ Registration with Social Work England ✔ Ability to work legally in the UK ✔ Full UK driving licence (required) ✔ Post-qualified social work experience (essential) ✔ Degree-level qualification in Social Work (or equivalent)
