Children's Safeguarding Social Worker – Northamptonshire Children’s Trust

About the Role

“I like working in safeguarding because it is the team that best enables relationship-based practice. I am very keen to develop a connection with the children and families I support, and I put a lot of effort into this. When we reach the end of our journey together and children are safely cared for by their parents or carers, it is very evident why my effort was worthwhile.” Alora, Social Worker – Support and Safeguarding Team

Our support and safeguarding teams are nurturing, collaborative, and dedicated to fostering positive outcomes for children and young people across Northamptonshire. With offices in Northampton, Daventry, Corby, Kettering, and Wellingborough, the teams take a proactive, relationship-centred approach to safeguarding.

You will work closely with children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need Plans, and court proceedings when necessary. This role requires regular engagement with families over weeks to months, developing strong, trust-based relationships while implementing evidence-based interventions to keep children safe and thrive within their families when possible.

  • Inclusive and supportive – Colleagues look out for one another
  • Collaborative – Working across agencies to deliver whole-family support

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Regular social work visits – Building trusting relationships while informally assessing progress

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
