Technical Lead (Product-Focused)
We’re looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to take ownership of an AI-enabled product and help shape what comes next improving what’s already working while building out new ideas.
You’ll sit at the centre of product and engineering, turning ideas into real, scalable software. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the front setting direction, making key technical decisions, and still getting stuck into the code.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning the technical direction, architecture, and delivery of a core product
- Building backend features in Python, from idea through to release
- Working closely with Product teams to turn goals into clear technical plans
- Leading an Agile team keeping delivery on track and standards high
- Making decisions that balance speed, quality, and scalability
- Reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and raising the bar across the team
- Collaborating with designers to create a smooth, intuitive user experience
- Continuously improving how the team builds, ships, and runs software

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
